Clinical examination

From your understanding of the anatomy of the hand, you are now able to apply this knowledge to testing function clinically. For example, you may need to test nerve function following a possible nerve lesion in a patient's upper limb.

Here are five tests for motor function in the hand. Why would we use this group of tests? What does each action test?

I'm not going to tell you the answer to that. I think there's enough information here for you to work that out for yourself.

 

Thumb flexion.

Thumb abduction.

Finger adduction.

Finger abduction.

Opposition.
